We look forward to providing you an easy, stress-free commute on Xpress. Here are some of the guidelines for riding Xpress:
Boarding
Please arrive at the commuter stop or park & ride lot at least 10 minutes prior to departure. Although our coach operators make every effort to operate the service as scheduled, times given may vary because of road, traffic and other conditions. Outbound times are estimated for your convenience.
Not all stops have times on the schedule. If your stop is not a time point, use the nearest timed stop to estimate the time the coach will arrive at your stop.
Coach operators may pick up or disembark passengers only at designated stops. Please do not attempt to board an Xpress coach unless it is at a designated stop. This is for your own safety and for the convenience of other passengers.
Coaches must depart at the times posted on the Xpress schedule. Coach operators may not wait for stragglers past the schedule time to depart. Operators will only allow boarding past the scheduled departure time if a passenger is standing at the coach door. For your convenience, you may ask the operator for the time indicated on the farebox so you can synchronize your watch.
At the coach stop, check the route name and number on the electronic header sign above the front window or on the sign on the side of the coach to make sure it is your coach. Each stop serves several different routes.
Disembarking
Please touch the stop strip above your head to signal that you need to disembark at the next stop. Our coach operator will announce the destination stops.
Please be careful when exiting the coach, road pavement and sidewalks may be uneven or dangerous.
Farebox
To ride Xpress you may pay exact cash (one-way and roundtrip only), insert or swipe an Xpress multi-use fare pass, or tap your regional Breeze Card. A free transfer to MARTA will only be available to passengers using a Breeze card. MARTA will discontinue accepting the bus-to-rail transfer.
Passengers who pay by cash will not be able to transfer for free.
Do not put your fare pass in the cash slot. If the farebox does not return your pass, inform the operator and ask for a Lost Item card (See Lost and Found procedures for further information on how a lost fare pass is returned.)
If you need help, please ask the operator.
Bicycles
You are welcome bring your bicycle onboard Xpress. Most coaches have a rack in front that can hold 1-2 bicycles. The operator can tell you how to load your bike. It’s simple. If there is not a rack, or the rack is full, just ask the operator to open the undercarriage bin. You may then place your bicycle in the undercarriage storage. The customer is responsible for loading the bicycle on board the coach. GRTA is not responsible for damage to the bicycle while en route.
Wheelchair Lift
Xpress is committed to providing safe, comfortable, convenient service to all of our riders. All Xpress coaches comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and feature both a kneeling feature to lower the steps into the bus and a wheelchair lift. There are places for two wheelchairs to be secured on each coach.
Xpress will provide wheelchair accommodation provided the chair does not exceed the following dimensions: 30 inches in width, 48 inches in length and the weight of the chair, when occupied, does not exceed 600 pounds.
If you need assistance boarding the coach, or need to use the wheelchair lift, notify the driver. The operator will aid you in boarding or leaving the coach.
The wheelchair lift is located on the passenger entrance side of the coach, about 1/3rd of the way back. To use it, notify the driver, who will deploy the lift. Follow the driver's instructions and you will be assisted into the coach and your wheelchair secured for a safe ride.
