Can Traffic and Relaxation Go Together?

Of course traffic is NOT in any way related to relaxation for most.  However, some are able to find ways to soothe themselves in an otherwise stress inducing setting.  Some of these tactics are outlined below:

Practice Gratitude

Make a concerted effort to think of all the things that you are grateful for.  You might be able to appreciate the fact that you have a job, great co-workers, loved ones, friends, or simply be thankful for the privilege of seeing another day.

Drink Green Tea

Green tea contains an amino acid that not only provides its’ unique flavor, but also promotes relaxation. Although many turn to caffeinated coffee for their morning boost, but this beverage choice can actually contribute to your stress response.  Therefore, green tea is a better overall option for your health and sanity.

Listen to Music

If you drive alone (or even with a tolerant passenger), your car is the perfect place to enjoy the sounds of your favorite songs.  As long as you keep your eyes on the road and watch out for hazards, music is the perfect means for taking your mind off of stressful things and uplifting your mood.

Breathe Deeply

Breathing exercises can do a body good.  Inhaling through your nose for a count of four and exhaling through your mouth for a count of four helps to calm the nervous system and ultimately reduce stress.

Pay-as-you-exit to get out of town faster

This September 6, Xpress is getting more convenient.  We are implementing a new fare collection method on our routes (NOTE: this change does not apply to Route 408). Customers will pay for their trip in the afternoons before exiting the bus at the park-and-ride lots. Why? This change allows you to board the bus faster in the afternoon and keep the buses from getting delayed along their routes.

Customers will still pay with the same method as they do currently (i.e. tap Breeze card, pay cash, use fare product); you will just make your payment as you exit the coach.
