May 3: National Teacher Appreciation Day

Teachers work extremely hard to take care of our children, to teach them important skills and offer guidance when needed. On May 3, you have an opportunity to recognize the teachers in your children lives for National Teacher Appreciation Day. Here are 6 ways to show your appreciation:

1. Treat your teachers that may commute to Downtown Atlanta with a Xpress bus pass.
2. It’s spring time; you could always consider a potted plant from a nearby nursery.
3. Teachers have to be up early to make it to school, buy them a gift card or coffee beans from Starbucks.
4. Teachers have a tiring job, both emotionally and physically. Another great gift idea is a gift card to a local movie theater or even for a massage or pedicure.
5. Stop by your local farmer’s market and make a fruit or veggie basket.
6. Does your teacher have a pet? If so, then consider a gift from a local pet store.

What’s to happen to Turner Field?

Many Atlanta residents made their way to view the latest plan recommendations for Turner Field. This is all a part of the Turner Field Stadium Neighborhoods Livable Centers Initiative. There are 3 plans up for discussion regarding Turner Field: shopping plaza, park, or neighborhood square.
“The number one thing that folks want to see here is they really want it to be a part of the city,” said John Skach with Perkins and Will, the lead design firm for the project. “They were looking at Midtown almost as an example of what they would like to see.” Read more at Fox 5 Atlanta.

Metro Atlantans waste up to 59 Hours in Traffic

Atlanta ranked number 9 on the average time wasted per commuter by the INRIX list of U.S. cities with the worst traffic. Metro Atlantans were found to spend 59 hours per commuter per year in traffic congestion by the INRIX transportation analytics. Traffic is occurring due to positive economic changes in U.S. cities like increase in employment rates, lower gas prices and overall economic growth. In all these great instances, there is a lack in the quality of life for those who have to battle the Atlanta traffic conditions on a daily basis.

Join Xpress, our buses get you to and from work each day in a stress free environment. It’s about time you relax and let our drivers do the driving. Did you know? Xpress customers gain up to 250 hours per year that would have otherwise been spent in traffic. To view the top 10 cities in the U.S. list of worst traffic, read more.

New Name, New Image, New Ride

Our transportation partner Cobb Community Transit (CCT) has changed their name to CobbLinc. Not only a new name, CobbLinc has a new image and brand to include a new logo, new buses, and new technology. Pictured above is the CobbLinc newest prototype of their new buses. The CobbLinc Director Vida Covington believes “the rebranding and buses will give the system a fresh, modern image and improved rider experience for its customers”.

As we are excited to announce coming soon, our Find my Bus app and Wi-Fi on buses will be live in just a few months; we are just as excited Cobb Linc will be doing the same. “The new buses will have on-board Wi-Fi capabilities and enhanced real-time passenger information systems that will lead to the development of a mobile app, which we plan to introduce later this year,” Covington said.
